On Saturday 23rd May 2027, after a few words given by Robin Bell, chairman of the society, a group of members gathered in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh to hold a minutes silence dedicated to the great Marquis.
Following the AGM in The Royal Scots Club, a light lunch was enjoyed by all.
Phinella Henderson, a long standing member of the society, gave an excellent talk entitled “The Contemporary Images of James Graham, Fifth Earl & First Marquis of Montrose”. Phinella revisited the research she undertook for her monograph published in 2007. In addition, she discussed some material which has come to light on this topic since then through various routes.
